Commercially the film is not a hit. But it received a very good critical acclaim from the
media. And get into the film festivals.
In due course for Pongal we’ve got some major releases. Vijay’s kavalan,
Dhanush’s Adukalam, Karthi’s Siruthai, kalaingar’s “Elaingan”,
sollitharava. Out of these films Adukalam receive good critical acclaim.
Dhanush note worthy performance, Good making and screenplay by Vetrimaran, Sun TV’s
aggressive marketing dosen’t give the enough collection. With lot of hiccups Vijay’s
Kavalan got released. Inspite of all those hindrance it has got some good
opening. But failed to become a note worthy
commercial entertainer. Kalaingar’s
Ilaigan is a washout in all the areas. The first day night show has been
cancelled in many theatres. In spite of this
the film made to run for more than 100 days. The one and only hit is karthi’s siruthai. A
non stop entertainer. With santhanam
karthi performance and some racy good numbers help the film to become a
super hit of this year.
Sollitharava is a clean washout.
After pongal S.D.Sabapathi’s Pathinaru got released. Some good poster designs,
draws the audience in to the hall. But fails to impress.

Durai Dayanithi’s “Thoonga Nagaram” Miskin’s “yudham sei”
Gowtham Vasudev menon’s “Nadunisi Naikal’, Dhanush’s “Seedan” and some small
budget film got released this month. Even though “thoonga nagaram’ got some
good content , because of the lack of good screenplay fails to impress the
audience. Gowtham Vasudev Menon’s
“Nadunisi Naikal” creates lot of
expectation among the viewer’s before release. Fails. Subramania siva’s second
outing with dhanush “seedan” a Malayalam remake. Fails to impress the viewer. The
one and only film which has got some good critical acclaim, and a commercial
benefit to some extent is Mishkin’s “yudam sei”. Prakash raj’s “Payanam “ only
gain some good revenue in Multiplexes.

World cup, School exams, makes the big budget film to wait
for their turn, lot of small budget film got released in this month. Most of
the small budget film gone without
trace. Jeeva’s “singam puli”, Kullanari Kootam, Rasu.Maduravan’s “Muthukku
Muthaka” been note worthy relese of this month.
In spite of Jeeva’s presence Singam puli fails to impress. With wide
advertisements Kullanari kootam try to draw the audience into the hall. But
fails to withstand. March’s un expected hit is Rasu.Maduravan’s “Muthukku
Muthaka”. A Family tear jerker. With tv serial kind of stuff received some good
revenue in b and c centres.

K.v.Anand’s “ko”, simbu’s “vaanam” Nanjupuram, Sun tv’
Mappillai, prasanth’s Ponnar Sankar got released this Month. Nanjupuram which
the film was in the boxes for more than year got released. A small budget movie
in digital fail to raise interest even though released through Rama narayanan.
Prasanth’s Magnum opus Ponnar sankar impress with some good publicity. Technically film impress, fail to impress in
content, that resembles in collection. Suntv’s Mappillai is another failure
from sun- dhanush camp. The film is a
super hit for suntv alone. Simbu’s vaanam results resembles the result it has
got in telugu original version. Critically acclaims with average commercial
gaining. This month one and only superhit
is Ko. With some interesting plot, screenplay, Harris jeyaraj’s foot tapping music, Eye catching visuals, with all the ingredients,
the film impress all type of mass become a super hit.

Sun tv’s Engeyum Kadhal, Dayanidhi
Alagiri’s “Azhagar samyin kuthirai” Kalavaani’s producer Nazir’s “Ethan”,
Kandeen, and some small budget movies. Exotic
location, super hit songs, with good production value Sun tv’s
“Engeyum kadhal” fails because of the poor screenplay. Writer Baskar sakthi’s short story turns as a
“Azhagar sami kuthirai”. Film receives critical acclaim from all sides of film
critics and literary group , but fails to impress the common film goers. Ethan got delayed release because of the deficit
. Did some average opening because of vimal’s presence. Santhanu’s Kandeen
fails to impress.

Small budget films like “Anmai thavarel”, Festival winner “aranya
kaandam” Bala’s big budget bonanza “Avan
Ivan” , sathyam cinema’s “180” Arulnidhi’s
“Udhayan”, Jithan Ramesh’s “pillaiyar koil kadaisi theru” got released. Aanmai thavarel is a straight lift of a Brazilian
movie trade. Lot of tamil movie have taken the plot from that movie. But fail
to give the reality. Festival winner,
and critically acclaimed “Aranya kaandam” failed commercially. Arulnidhi’s
action outing fails to impress the audience. Jithan ramset’s pillaiyar koil
kadaisi theru got unnoticed because of the old type screenplay. Even though stylish and good technical value
sathyam cinema’s 180 fails to draw the interest of the audience because of the over
ridden cancer concept. Baal, visual, aria
“Avan Ivan” opens with a big bang. Bang goes of without trace because of the
content of the film. Film critics and the viewers never expected this type of
non content film from bala.
